Technical Tips in Amsterdam

On Saturday 13th of June, while the ReMaTec show was getting ready for the grand opening, a large group of our customers was ready, even determined to learn more on new and challenging transmissions.

18th Choice Tech Seminar 2015

They came to the right place. Under the experienced guidance of Wayne Colonna from A.T.S.G. the eager rebuilders were (further) introduced to the new automatic gearboxes. The journey started with the A6MF1, Hyundai/ Kia Six speed transmission and the Toyota 8 Speed AA80E, which is Aisin Warners TL-80SN. If there is one thing which can be learned from these transmissions is that it all comes down to electronics. If you know the valvebody and the works of the electronical parts, you have control of the transmission.
Next stop was Audi's 0B5 S-Tronic, an 7 speed Dual Clutch Electro-Hydraulically controlled gearbox. Here the division between the US and European markets became apparent. While this transmission is now showing up in every European workshop, the American rebuilders are still waiting for their first acquaintance. Therefor Wayne had to stretch his limits to obtain useful tips and illustrative pictures.
The first session was concluded by the Jatco JF613E, again a focus on practical valve body and solenoid information.

Bob Warnke from Sonnax enlightened his audience with information on the 722.9 Mercedes, 6T40 and 6L80 gearboxes. Even though these are more common, they tend to be tricky once in the workshop. Together with the popular ZF 6HP; 8HP and newbe 9HP transmission, Bob had created a fully satisfying session when it comes to trending topics. He spoke of the Converter relationship to shift quality and the Transmission isolation of Torque Converter control for these units.

The last technical session of the day was handled again by Wayne Colonna. While it is always good to learn on the transmissions that are relatively new; updating your knowledge on daily repairs and issues is essential. As Wayne puts it: 'This type of seminar could be referred to as the silver bullet as it presents problems shops have struggled with along with the resolution to the problem. Sharing this information spares others from experiencing the same anguish it took to find the cause.' The six, seven and eight speeds were accompanied by CVT and DCT/DSG type transmissions for daily practice tips and tricks.

Walk&Talk Event

After the last session the day took a new turn. This year we introduced our Walk&Talk session, where a selection of our suppliers discussed one topic with our delegates: What will tomorrow bring you?. Don't we all want to know the answer to that question?
The delegates were divided in small groups and set themselves at the table of a supplier, thus rotating that after 1.5 hour all tables were visited. An automotive version of speed dating. The enthusiastic responses proved to us that bringing these parties together is vital for the future, especially when this future is tomorrow.

We would like to thank all our customers and our prefered suppliers for making this day happen.

Looking forward to a next meeting with you!

During the Walk&Talk session we had handed out our questionnaires. The outcome of these questionnaires is crucial for the organisation of our future seminars. Unfortunately due to the event, not everyone could fill in these forms. If you werent able to give your opinion during the day but are willing to do so, we would like to offer you the possibility to fill in the questionnaire on this page. It will be handled anonymous. All feedback is highly appreciated by us. Thank you very much!
