The Automatic Choice group recently held its 11th Choice Tech technical seminar at the Holiday Inn, Bristol in England. This fully subscribed event took place over the 6/7th of May and included not only the now traditional 4 session presentation on the Saturday but also a Technical, hands-on section on Friday afternoon.
Fifty, early arriving, seminar delegates were welcomed and embraced topics

These sessions were carried out in a relaxed, informal, manner in small groups of 7-8 delegates, resulting in truly interactive demonstrations and discussions. Many of the attendee’s commented that it was helpful, informative and constructive and provided answers to current problems encountered in their workshops.

The afternoon session was followed later in the evening by the now much anticipated social get together where old and new friends re-acquainted themselves over a buffet, drinks and the added entertainment of a roving magician. It was also rumoured that a certain transmission rebuilder had a trick or two up his sleeve to entertain us with!

Saturday’s events were kicked off by Wayne Colonna of ATSG, presenting a session on the Asian Warner TR60 transmission, followed by a welcome return to the UK of Bob Warnke of Sonnax Industries who presented us with information on the common Valve Body wear points for the TR60 unit and also the range of 6 speed ZF transmissions.

Lunch was followed by the return of Wayne who gave an industry first, presentation on the Mercedes 722.8 CVT transmission with his own, never before seen, detailed hydraulic circuit drawings and valve body breakdown. The latter part of this session also covered another Mercedes transmission namely the 722.9 series again with detailed Valve body information not previously available to the rebuilding industry.

The day’s final session started with a Brief operational description of Hybrid transmissions and the safety precautions relevant to the high voltages used on these units which are starting to appear in our workplaces. This was followed by a continuation of a previously held electrical and diagnosis session, taking it to a higher level.

Automatic Choice would like to publicly thank the speakers, presenters and all the delegates for making another successful event for all concerned.
